Medium, based on a real-life psychic, is one of the popular new dramas on NBC. Now Court TV follows with a real-life nonfiction psychic series, Haunting Evidence.
The program debuts at 9: 30 p. m. Wednesday with encores set each week at 4: 30 p. m. Saturday and 10: 30 p. m. Sunday.
The premiere episode includes a northeast Arkansas connection.
It?s been six years since 20-year-old Dell resident Amanda Tusing was kidnapped and murdered.
Mandy, as she was called by her family, was last seen leaving her fiance Matt Ervin?s apartment in Jonesboro at 11: 30 p. m. June 14, 2000.
It was storming.
Tusing?s black 1992 Pontiac Grand Am was later found by Ervin just west of Monette. Her purse and keys were still inside. Four days later Tusing?s body was discovered in a drainage ditch near Lake City, about 13 miles away.
There were no signs of assault.
Ervin has been cleared of any involvement. Tusing?s family and authorities remain baffled. Enter California psychic profiler Carla Baron.
Haunting Evidence visited northeast Arkansas in early March to film those involved in the Tusing case. The family had the body exhumed to search for clues. What did they learn ? We?ll have to tune in to find out.
More on the case can be found at www. amandatusing. com.
Haunting Evidence also features the expertise of medium John J. Oliver and paranormal investigator Patrick Burns.
The series promises that in each episode the team ?with no information on the case other than the victim?s name, use their skills to visualize and describe the details of the crime with amazing accuracy.?
Court TV claims, ?The Haunting Evidence team comes up with amazing revelations, providing new hope for finding Amanda?s killer.?
If you?re a fan of Court TV?s Psychic Detectives, you?ll probably also enjoy this offering.
Other viewers will dismiss all this as so much hooey that uses the hopes and prayers of a victim?s family as so much entertainment fodder for the masses.
Watch and decide.
Meanwhile, Haunting Evidence gives these top five ways to detect a spirit in your presence. Write them down.
1. The proverbial cold or warm spot. Some believe a spirit is drawing energy from the surrounding air.
2. Mysterious smells with no apparent origin. Stink under the sink ?
3. Irrational defensive behavior by pets. The cats and dogs always know.
4. Battery drain. Spirits can sap the energy out of even the Energizer Bunny.
5. Electronics malfunctions. Spirits can be playful, those rascals. Dish, dish, dish. Attention husbands. Did you ever wonder what the wife and her gal pals really do at those Tuesday night book club meetings ? If you thought they discussed James Frey?s latest fiction or the phenomenological sociology of literature, guess again.
Perhaps they do something ?provocative.? That term is used to disguise many a cheesy series, but that?s what CBS is using to describe Tuesday Night Book Club. The new reality show digs deep into the lives of seven ?real women? in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The show launches at 9 p. m. today.
C?mon. You know you like to watch. I see you sneaking a peek at Springer now and again.
The hour-long series follows the lives of the women ?as they deal with the day-to-day pressures of raising kids, maintaining households, satisfying their husbands and sharing their intimate secrets.?
The ladies, ranging in age from 25 to 46, get together every Tuesday night to chat about everything ?from sex to spouses to innermost conflicts.?
Here?s the scorecard and the network-supplied labels.

There you have it ? all the makings of something like The Real World: All-Girl Suburban Edition. Pick a chick and root her on. Last call: The series finale of Commander in Chief airs at 9: 01 p. m.
