Once again Vernon's streets will be filled with those in search of the paranormal as Ghost Tours of Vernon will be returning for its third year of spooky tales and macabre offerings.
In what is becoming a summer tradition, host Gabriel David Sumegi Newman the second guides audiences around downtown Vernon and lower East Hill where he entertains them with Vernon's paranormal inhabitants and its sordid history.
"Vernon is a real hotbed of paranormal activity," said Newman. "For every story I include on the tour there are 10 others I leave off."
These stories range in mood and content covering UFOs, ghostly children, magnetic hill, lake monsters and other local spirits.
This is an outdoor walking tour so appropriate dress and footwear is encouraged. On those hot summer nights a bottle of water is also encouraged.
"We cover a great deal of ground and it can get quite warm," said Newman who sweats it out wearing a full three-piece wool suit in the 1890s style for the tour.
Tours leave at 9 p.m. from the steps of the Vernon Museum every Monday to Thursday from July 3 until Aug. 10.
Ticket are $5 (cash only.)
Monday's tour will be a fundraiser for the NONA Treehouse Project. This will be the fourth fundraiser held by Ghost Tours of Vernon. Past groups who have benefited have been the Vernon Museum, Mara House as well as the Caetani committee.
No reservations are necessary unless you want to book a private tour for 20 or more
