One of the things that makes life so interesting is the fact that we never know what is coming next.
About 10 years ago, my husband and I decided to take a day off and headed for the charming village of Long Grove. After browsing the shops and seeing the sights, we entered one of the restaurants for lunch. On that particular day, the restaurant was featuring a psychic woman who was going from table to table offering to do a reading.
Now I never have put much credence into psychics but as she was charging only $5, I thought it might be fun to see what she would say. She asked me to let her hold my watch, and I handed it to her. She grew very serious and said, "You are going to have a very exciting old age. I see that you are going to write a book, and the book will be published."
I found this amazing as I had never written anything other than research papers when I was in school and I wondered how she chose that information to make up.
Well, here it is 10 years later and I have just had my first book published. It has an International Standard Book Number and a Library of Congress number just like the books of famous authors. Waiting for the first copy to arrive was a little bit like being in labor. I knew the day it was to arrive and waited anxiously hour by hour all day. The UPS truck finally arrived after 5 p.m. and I was able to see my creation, "Marianna's Little Book of Manners for Children."
Marianna is a fictitious little girl who has become almost real to me. I know all about her life way beyond what is covered in the book. At the beginning, Marianna has such very bad manners she is ostracized by the mothers of her friends who will no longer let their children play with her. You can learn how Marianna overcomes her dilemma and becomes so well versed in etiquette that she writes her own little book of manners for children.
To view a picture of this clever little girl, go to my Web site, www.etiquette4U.com, and click on the tab for children's etiquette book. You will see a small view of the front and back covers of the book. If you click on the cover, it will enlarge and you will be able to see how very cute Marianna is. If you click on the back cover, you will find a mini review of the story and my picture with my logo hat.
I hope that you can find the time to meet Marianna. She is quite a girl! And true to the psychic prediction, I am having a fun and exciting old age. It is never too late to reinvent yourself.
