London, Nov 17 (ANI): Not all guests at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' eagerly anticipated wedding might be invited, or even human for that matter, for the Italian castle the couple are getting set to hold their nuptials in, is said to be haunted by the ghost of a murdered legend. The venue for the couple's nuptials, the Odescalchi Castle, was built on the shores of Lake Bracciano in the latter half of the 15th century by the aristocratic Orsini family. According to legend, the Duke of Bracciano Paolo Giordano I Orsini's much younger wife, Isabella De'Medici, had several trysts with her lovers who were let into her chambers through a secret door. And while some of the clandestine meetings kept the duchess happy, those lovers who failed to satisfy her met with a rather gruesome death when they were flung out of a separate door down a spiked well, reports The Sun. When Orsini came to know of his young wife's extra-marital activities, it seems it was too much to bear and so while on holiday at the family's home in Florence, he garrotted his wife during dinner one night. Garrote is a method of execution in which an iron band is tightened around the neck of the condemned person until death occurs. (ANI)
