Gay psychic Dougall Fraser has been in the psychic industry since he was a teenager and has detailed his experiences in his engaging book, ?But You Knew That Already,? which explains how the Psychic Friends Network really works and the time he was named ?The Best Psychic in Dallas.? He also describes coming to terms with his homosexuality and meeting his boyfriend, David. Fraser has read for celebrity clients, appeared on ?The John Walsh Show? and frequently guested on radio and TV. And while Fraser can read a person?s aura clearly, what he himself projects is a respect for his abilities and a sense of humor. His predictions, hopefully, will show his accuracy.
PGN: How did you get started in psychic business/discover your ?talent??
DF: From early on, I could clearly pick up on emotion, and the tangible ability that I could see color around people ? I see energy on a constant basis. The reason I developed my psychic ability in my adolescent years was that it was easier for me to focus on somebody else?s problems than mine. I got really good at jumping into this stuff with someone else, so I didn?t have to deal with my problems ever. It was psychic boot camp for me.
PGN: Do you have a psychic specialty? Do you work with a crystal ball, tarot cards, other products?
DF: My specialty is that I?m a clairvoyant. Everything is visual. I can also feel, sometimes I?ll hear, but 80 percent of my ability is vision. The first layer being eye contact or the sound of someone?s voice. As I move deeper into the color and the energy of the individual, I start to see flashes in my head. For me it?s all through visual cues, ?cosmic charades.? I have to figure out what this scramble of information is and how do I translate it.
PGN: What is something you predicted that helped you realize your calling?
DF: I?ve been doing this for 10 years and every day I question if this is my calling. That?s not a good thing to say for business. I don?t really understand why people come to a psychic. I use psychic as the umbrella to describe what I do, but my goal is never to predict the future. My goal is to see if the individual sitting before me is utilizing their strengths to the best of their ability, following their path of destiny and heart. [Are] they communicating, are they learning ... I question it every day and the weird part is that I am trying to transition into life coaching, to get people to trust their own intuition.
PGN: How accurate are you?
DF: I?ve never been 100-percent accurate in my life. In fact, if someone calls me and says every single thing you said came true, I feel I didn?t do my job correctly. My job is to steer clear of drama and hardship if I can. I never strive to be 100-percent accurate. I want to feel I am connecting with people and making a difference in some respect. Looking at issues and giving solid core advice that would dramatically change your life.
PGN: What is the most interesting error you made in your work?
DF: I said Kerry would win the election. I said it constantly, I was passionate about it. I had it in print. I never denied it, I was certain that it would happen and what I found in my career is that if I care too much about something, I can?t be right about it. For every time I?ve rocked someone?s world, I?ve totally made a mistake.
PGN: What do you say to skeptics who are unconvinced of psychic powers?
DF: You should totally be skeptical. I am skeptical when someone tells me they are psychic. I roll my eyes. The truth is, the proof is in the pudding.
PGN: What advice do you have for first-time visitors?
DF: First-time visitors are my favorite. The best thing is to sit down and not tell me what you want to know or why you came, not to open up immediately, but to be quiet and let?s just listen and see what kind of information comes through from being in each other?s energy.
PGN: What does your sexuality have to do with your work? Are you more likely to give advice to GLBT folks?
DF: For the gay community, most gay people have had to look out of the box as far as spirituality goes. Most major religions told us that we?re wrong. I had a double whammy. Not only am I gay, I?m psychic as well. So a lot of gay people are open to the idea of spiritualism or New Age philosophy because it is a typically unconditionally loving area. My sexuality was a big issue and it was imperative for me from the beginning to be as out as possible, without it being irritating.
PGN: Has your work ever affected your relationship with your boyfriend David?
DF: It drives him insane. That said, we?re engaged to be married on June 10.
PREDICTIONS
PGN: When will the war in Iraq end?
DF: Oh, God! That?s a hard question. It is beyond, beyond, five years.
PGN: Lance and Reichen just broke up and got back together. What will happen with them?
DF: Lance and Reichen will be a very on-again/off-again relationship. Mostly from Lance?s end.
PGN: Portia and Ellen?
DF: They will absolutely stay together. They will have one child in about three more years. A boy.
PGN: Kelly and Rosie?
DF: They will stay together for quite some time, no more children, though.
PGN: Will the ?lancing? trend of outing celebrities continue?
DF: It will absolutely continue, but it will never be somebody who is in an A-list place. I think it will be someone who is coming down the slope of their fame, but absolutely a total upswing of people coming out in the next two years.
PGN: Will any of the following win Oscars in 2007? Mel Gibson?
DF: No.
PGN: ?Dreamgirls??
DF: It will win Best Picture. Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy will be nominated, but neither will win.
PGN: Helen Mirren?
DF: No.
PGN: Forest Whitaker?
DF: No.
PGN: Martin Scorsese?
DF: Yes.
PGN: What will happen with the U.S. economy?
DF: The economy is not great for the United States in 2007. It?s not until spring that we start to see a very, very, very slow change. But I think that?s mainly because people are freaked out by the direction the world is going in so they are all trying to sit still should something terrible happen. I think it will take a few years before people feel safe again economically.
PGN: What can you say about the real-estate market?
DF: That?s a good question. It?s been terrible. It?s going to continue to go down through most of the winter 2007. Come April, May, the real estate-market is going to perk up just a little bit, so if you can afford to buy anything in the winter months, without having to worry about flipping it
