Career-minded men are breaking down the gender barrier and seeking out psychics to help them along in life.
Doreen Lesko, organizer of the Psychic and Wholistic Fair, said an increasing number of men are going to clairvoyants asking for career and health advice.
Lesko, who comes from a long line of psychics, said where women tend to fret about loved ones and their family members? health, men are asking questions like when they should retire.
?There was a time when men wouldn?t be caught dead at a fair. Now you see them coming in alone,? Lesko said.
Men are also concerned about their well being.
?We?re not doctors but we can identify areas of distress in the body. We would then recommend they go see a doctor and have that area checked,? Lesko said.
The three-day fair wrapped up Sunday at the Executive Royal Inn West Edmonton. It brought together seven psychics offering a range of services, including numerology, tea leaf readings, hypnosis and handwriting analysis.
Lesko said chiromancy, or palm reading, was popular among visitors.
?On the whole, people walk away feeling good,? she said. ?I joke around about people thinking we?re spooky, but we?re just ordinary people who have been given a gift. We try to use that gift to help people.?
