Advice columnist and Miami native Jess Weiner, known as the ''Queen of Self-esteem'' on Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's website www.mary-kateandashley.com, got some unsolicited help from psychic medium John Edwards, who told Weiner back in 2003, ''I am going to help you publish your book.'' Weiner said, ''I'm not writing one,'' until Edwards busted her and said, ''You have three chapters next to your bed!'' He was right; and Weiner published Life Doesn't Start Five Pounds From Now and eventually the bestselling Do I Look Fat In This?
After an appearance on Oprah, Weiner was invited by Winfrey to be a panelist on the talk show titan's ''O You'' event, coming to the Miami Beach Convention Center on Sept. 29.
Rosie O'Donnell was at DeVito South Beach last Friday night (before her now notorious scuffle with a Lincoln Road Harley rider) where she had a three-hour meal with Sharon Gless, who's currently appearing on USA's Burn Notice.
O'Donnell ordered the $130 Aragosta Forno (stuffed lobster), which she washed down with several bottles of Peroni beer. For those looking for a visual beyond that one, no such luck. O' Donnell kindly asked the general manager, Dwayne Collins, not to allow any photography while she was at the restaurant.
Spotted at Soul Kitchen Sunday at The Forge: rappers Lo Rider and T-Pain, who gave an impromptu performance for an audience that included boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., who made quite the scene dancing around the bar with a bevy of female fans who, according to one, ''were throwing themselves at him.'' Watching the performance, but not participating, were Brooke Hogan and Paul ''The Big Show'' Wight, there to celebrate Hulk Hogan's 54th birthday.
Janet Jackson went furniture shopping at the high-end Italian Design District showroom Poltrona Frau, whose staff wouldn't reveal how much Jackson spent or what she bought. What we really want to know is if the furniture was for her rental or the home she is rumored to be buying in Miami. Hmmm.
Music producer turned designer Dallas Austin, in town to launch Austin's ROWDY clothing line at Mokai on Thursday, hung out at the Gen Art party at Love Hate Lounge Wednesday night with recording artist (and Lenny Kravitz's cousin) Jovar Andrews. The hip-hop duo drank shots of Patron and were, according to a witness, ``very low-key all night.''
