FORMER Paisley Daily Express psychic Derek Ogilvie is hoping to wow viewers across the UK when his television series is broadcast to millions of homes tonight.
Derek ? who was given his first break by the Express when we launched his weekly psychic column more than three years ? said he is ?massively excited? about the new show, ?The Baby Mind Reader.?
Viewers who tune into Five can watch Derek use his ability to communicate telepathically with babies and small children.
Derek, who lives in Kilbarchan, said: ?I?m delighted to be the first psychic to get their own series on terrestrial television and I?m sure it will be a big hit with viewers.
?It is a very powerful show and it?ll be a real eye-opener for people.
?Credibility is very important to me and I?m confident this series will prove to the sceptics who don?t believe in me that I?m the real deal after all.?
A total of four hour-long episodes of The Baby Mind Reader will be screened, starting tonight, and will show Derek visiting parents who are at the end of their tether with problem children and who have tried all conventional methods to find a solution without success.
In the first show, 41-year-old Derek meets teenage single mum Emma, whose out-of-control toddler Teegan is driving her to despair.
Emma is so astounded at how accurately the top psychic has identified her problems that she is reduced to tears.
Derek is able to tell Emma how a terrible trauma she suffered when she was just 14 has left a huge weight on her shoulders and is also having an impact on Teegan?s behaviour.
And he also comes up with a plan to restore peace to Emma and Teegan?s life within two weeks.
He said: ?I meet some fascinating people on The Baby Mind Reader and I take them on a remarkable journey.
?These are people who are at the end of their tether and desperate for help. To be able to help them with their problems was a very emotional experience for me and, in many cases, the positive impact I was able to have on their lives reduced me to tears.?
Derek claims he knew he was psychic from the age of six but never told anyone and, as he grew up, he closed his mind to the spirit world.
In later life, he began to use his gift and realised that he had a special talent for communicating with both dead people and young children alike.
His reputation grew after he launched his weekly psychic column in the Paisley Daily Express, which ran for more than three years before he signed a bumper deal with TV station Five.
In his new show, Derek communicates with children in his own unique way as he attempts to find out the underlying reasons behind their tantrums, sleepless nights and feeding problems.
Derek?s debut book ? The Baby Mind Reader ? which accompanies his TV series is already proving to be a big hit.
The book tells his life story, from his childhood days in Paisley to his success as one of the leading psychics on television.
The Baby Mind Reader begins at 9pm tonight on Five.
