(CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA Just in time for Halloween, a new haunting attraction is making its way through Center City. CBS 3?s Angela Russell took a trip on the Haunted Express.
Shortly before nightfall, the area near 5th and Market Streets experiences a haunting. But this is no ghostly spirit, it is a double-decker bus guided by the grim reaper.
?Mortals. There are mortals on this vehicle. No one told me I was dealing with mortals, the union must have made a mistake,? said one of the ghostly guides.
The Haunted Express visits more than fifteen sites in Philadelphia and guests learn haunted facts and folklore.
One such fact revolved around Katie King, who the guide said is a spirit people were trying to summon at 9th and Arch in the 1800s during the so-called spiritualism movement.
The tour also stops by the Betsy Ross house, where ghost activity has been reported. One owner in the early 1900s brought in a psychic.
?The psychic came in and said that Ms. Ross still lived here. They feel her spirit, they hear her breathing,? the guide described.
Guest can also learn about past of the site where the Constitution Center is now located.
?This use to be an African American and Native American burial ground,? the guide said.
The Haunted Express takes one hour and guests get a ?trick or treat? bag full of goodies. The mortals on board gave the experience a thumbs up.
"It was hilarious, funny, very educational,? said one guest.
?It's fun. It will be good for the kids. Haunted Express is a nice way for them to see the city at night, when most don't get to come,? said one parent.
Don't expect a "scary" ride, but one definitely in the spirit of Halloween.
