A ?pastor? has narrowly escaped being beaten to death by a mentally deranged woman. The so-called pastor, who was later discovered to be a drunk, was trying to exorcise a perceived evil spirit which he believed was the cause of the woman?s madness.
The incident occured at Aleita, a suburb of Abuja on Wednesday. The mad woman, whose relations were around at the time of the incident, pounced on the exorcist and beat the daylights out of him before he was rescued by onlookers.
Nigerian Tribune findings showed that the mad woman had been in the state for close to seven months and had been manacled before she cut loose and was heading to the main express road while her family members were in pursuit in a bid to recapture her.
The pastor was said to have accosted the woman and held her hands without the woman resisting being taken back to her family members. However, the story changed when he started praying for the mentally deranged woman and speaking in tongues with an intent to cast out the demon of madness which he believed was occupying the mind of the woman.
The woman turned on him and gave him a serious beating, tearing his clothes before he was rescued by on-lookers. It was after being rescued and trying to explain his ordeal that it was discovered that his breath stank of alcohol.
The man who had a deep gash under his left eyelashes was left to his fate by the sympathizers after being booed, while the mad woman was taken away by her relations.
