A BENEFITS cheat claimed ?68,000 while his wife earned almost as much as a clairvoyant, a court heard yesterday.
Peter Holdridge, 61, failed to declare the money brought in by fortune-teller Kathleen, 68, between 1998 and 2004.
During the same period he claimed jobseeker?s allowance, housing and council tax benefit.
Meanwhile the couple raked in ?65,000 which they stashed in a joint building society account.
Holdridge was also ?wheeling and dealing? in the sale of caravans. He worked as a handyman on a caravan site and was ?paid in kind? with cigarettes and food.
He was caught after the Department for Work and Pensions received two anonymous tip-offs that Mrs Holdridge was working as psychic ?Kathy Starr? at a hotel room in Scunthorpe, Lincs.
She advertised her services in local newspapers, the court heard.
Holdridge, of Sutton-on-Sea, Lincs, admitted benefit offences and was jailed for nine months at Lincoln Crown Court.
