Wong Tsu Chang says a mysterious lady appeared in his dreams and told him about his calling as a medium.
WHEN Wong Tsu Chang saw The Sixth Sense, he felt that his life was being played out on the silver screen.
The 28-year-old sees and talks to the dead.
He claims to have "a third eye" that gives him the ability to look into the spiritual realm.
Wong has been seeing spirits since 12, roughly the same age as the child character in the movie.
"It started with me being able to see spirits. Then one day, I was visited by a mysterious lady in a dream who taught me how to call up spirits from the afterlife,"
"She went on to advise me on the limitations of my gift and how to use it wisely," he said.
Since that encounter, Wong has vowed to help others resolve problems involving the supernatural.
Wong said many did not understand that there was a price to pay in making pacts with spirits.
He said some forget their promises and were haunted in return.
"Some of these curses are carried through for generations."
On payment for his services, he said that he did not do it for money and only accepted a donation of RM88.
"Like I said, every dealing with the spirits has a price. If I take advantage of my clients, I will pay a heavy price for it."
Wong?s statement is echoed by other mediums.
Low sifu, a Taoist priest and medium, said such gifts were bestowed by the gods to help mankind.
He specialises in looking into people?s past lives through a spirit guide to identify problems that occurred and needed resolution.
"Some ailments are caused by bad karma accumulated in a past life. So, by telling them what they did wrong, they can change it in this life and hopefully things will turn around," said Low, who charges RM50 per session.
Richard (not his real name) was always having problems with relationships.
The 35-year-old engineer claimed his girlfriends always cheated on him.
"But after consulting Low, I found out that I had been a womaniser in my past life and that I was now paying for it," he said.
Taking Low?s advice, Richard offered prayers and burnt offerings at a local temple.
"I am now seeing someone new. Although it has only been a few months, I can sense that things are going to be different this time around."
Betty (not her real name) started having unexplained rashes a few weeks before her wedding.
"I have never had any allergies before and the doctors could not explain why this was happening," she said.
Although of Indian descent, she consulted a Chinese medium who told her that her grandparents had promised her in an arranged marriage to someone before she was born.
"I learnt that my ?husband? had died young and was trying to claim the promise."
The matter was resolved by Betty postponing her marriage for three months and offering prayers to appease the spirit.
