It?s a diversion -- but they are accurate, says Newport, Hants County, resident Neva Bruce-Payne of psychics and their predictions.
Accurate or not, people still have to take responsibility for their own futures with that information, a psychic notes.
Bruce-Payne was one of a steady stream of people who went to get their futures read by four psychics taking part in the Psychic Fair at the Old Orchard Inn, June 19 and 20.
The psychics included spiritual consultant Linda Hilary, professional psychic Rollande Thompson; empathic psychic Debbie and psychic clairvoyant David Dunne.
Bruce-Payne enjoys going to psychic fairs, having recently attended one in the metro area, too. She said, ?I have an interest in it? I just enjoy it. It?s a diversion, more than anything.?
At the same time, she noted, ?I think they are very accurate.?
A professional medium and spiritual healer for 15 years, Hilary does teacup, card and candle or smoke readings, as well as spirit pictures. She said that many people have said that her readings are 100 per cent accurate, while others say the predictions are less so. But, Hilary noted, ?I can only give what is given to me.? She gives back what will be happening with the person in the near future ? the next year or so. People can only focus on the next few months at a time.
?I tell them the probabilities,? Hilary said, ?and they have a choice.? She pointed out that ?if it?s good, they can accelerate it, and if it?s bad, they can slow it or stop it. But they have to take responsibility.?
Hilary sees all types of people: professionals, public sector workers, and some folks plain down on their luck.
Based in Parrsboro, Hilary has done readings across the country, but mostly in Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
The psychics provide taping of their readings to their clients.
Heading up the fair, Dunne -- who reads Tarot cards, palms and other sources ? was happy with the quiet but steady turn out.
