Seven families in a Ganze Division village have been sleeping in the cold for the past four weeks after allegedly being ejected from their houses by ghosts.
Mr Justin Kumbu told the Nation that the spirits had caused havoc to the their property through mysterious fires.
Mr Kumbu said their afflictions started last October when the roofs of their houses were pounded with stones by ?invisible? people.
Their faces were also smeared with soil as they slept.
However, these occurrences stopped during the election campaigns but resumed on January 1, this year, and have been going on to date.
The most startling thing about this bizarre happening is that all the affected families are related.
Tightly sealed
Ms Maria Lennox Ngoro and Mrs Jumwa Ngoro said ?invisible forces? threw stones and sand in their cooking pots.
Ms Ngoro claims that she would find sugar, which keeps in a tightly closed tin, spilled on the floor.
When the Nation visited the homestead Wednesday, women were cooking in the open. Household items including partially burnt beds, bed sheets, blankets and clothes whose destruction was blamed on the evil forces, were spread in the compound.
Mr Lennox Ngoro, a curio seller, said: ?We have decided to take all movable goods out of the houses to save them from mysterious fires.? He said his bedroom curtain had caught fire mysteriously. He however acted swiftly and put it out.
Ms Francisca Ngoro said a fire broke out under her bed. She was not so lucky as all her children?s clothes and her bed were consumed by the fire.
In another home, the Nation found two teenage sisters Margaret Magio and Christine Magio, who had just arrived from school. They claimed to have been attacked by the ?ghosts?.
?We were in our respective classes at 7.30am doing our preps when we were attacked by invisible persons who tore our skirts into tatters,? they said.
Unseen forces
?On our way home, we were accosted again by some unseen forces that shredded our school bags,? said the girls.
Another villager said 10 new corrugated iron sheets in her house were sprayed with petrol and set on fire by the ghosts.
Mr Ustadh Abdallah Jillo from the nearby Sakina mosque confirmed that he had witnessed the incidents.
