DEREK Acorah is one of the country's best known spiritual mediums.
The star of Living TV's Ghost Towns, Most Haunted, Most Haunted Live and The Antiques Ghost Show is coming to the Grimsby Auditorium next month.
Ahead of his visit, he took time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions...
You're back touring the country with your show. What can people expect?
They can expect a demonstration of mediumship ? in that I will go to members of the audience.
These audience members are people whose loved ones on the higher side of life have chosen to communicate through me as a medium at that particular time.
I will then pass on messages from family and friends who are resident in the world of spirit.
Your fans will most recently have seen you on TV in Paranormal Egypt. Can you tell us about your experiences over there?
The time I spent in Egypt was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.
We were privileged to be allowed in to some of the most fascinating locations.
I was fortunate in that I was in communication with some key figures in Egyptian history.
There is much more to be discovered and I look forward to returning to the country to continue my search.
After the success of your various TV shows, you must often be recognised in the street. What sort of things do people say to you?
People generally want to wish me well for my work with spirit.
Occasionally, some may ask about my programmes ? they want to know things such as: "Did that really happen?"
An isolated person will laughingly comment: "You didn't see that coming did you, Derek?", if something untoward occurs while they are around.
If you were holding a dinner party and could invite anyone from history, who would it be, and why?
Ghandi is the one person who I would love to have met, as I admire his life's philosophies.
Do you have any superstitions?
I don't believe in superstition.
It is my belief that what happens to us on earth is pre-ordained - no amount of not walking under ladders will change this.
How do you relax?
I relax by being at home with my family.
I unwind by walking my dogs, watching football on TV and revelling in the fact that I do not have to work to a diary.
What's the best piece of advice you have been given?
To always do my best and never knowingly hurt any person.
I am a huge believer in "what goes around comes around" and "as you sow, so shall you reap".
How eco-friendly are you?
I try to do my best. Our local council is quite strict in making sure residents tow the line. I feel very strongly about preserving our world and animal welfare.
What's your guiltiest pleasure?
I suppose my guiltiest pleasure is smoking.
I know I shouldn't, but I do because I enjoy it.
I am always saying that I will give up cigarettes ? but so far I haven't.
If you ruled the world for a day, what one change would you make?
I would rid the world of all the people who knowingly cause pain and anguish in others' lives in the hope that this would make the world a happier place in which to live.
Derek will appear on stage at the Grimsby Auditorium on Friday, February 8, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost ?17.50 and can be booked by calling 0870 060 2331.
