Can spirits read our thoughts?

I was wondering what your thoughts were on this topic. Can spirits read our thoughts? Has anyone here experienced this happening to themselves or someone they know?

I am actually going to try and incorporate this experiment into my next investigation.

The reason I am interested in looking into this possibility is because of some of my more recent experiences while investigating.

One such thing occurred a few months ago just before I was about to leave for Drummond Hill Cemetery for an investigation. Just before I was about to leave the house, I heard a very loud but indistinguishable voice that sounded like a child. I was in my kitchen at the time this occurred. At almost the same time, another member of my team also had an experience of hearing a child's voice while at her home. When we conducted the investigation there, we actually did capture some voices that were of children. When we had a subsequent visit a few months later, we captured what sounded like the same child's voice in the same area of the cemetery. Was it a concidence? We are unsure.

The next experience I had occurred just over a month ago. I was scheduled to investigate a private residence that was located in Port Robinson. Two days before I was scheduled to investigate, I noticed an unusual medicinal smell in my home. The smell seemed to worsen as the time for us to investigate drew closer. I searched my home and could not find a source for this smell. No one else in my home could smell this except for me. The smell seemed to come and go.

When it came time for the investigation, the area in which the family complained of activity had this EXACT same smell. Myself and another member noted the smell which seemed to be oblivious to the owners. As we carried out our investigation, the smell became stronger and stronger. It was to the point where our throats were hurting us. We assumed that this smell was linked to the person who was ill from cancer in the home and passed away in that particular area.

When I arrived home after the investigation, the smell was completely gone! I have not smelled this in my home since.

So this leads me to the question...Did the spirits of these two separate investigations know that we were coming to investigate and hence I experienced something that was related to each investigation BEFORE even going there? If this is the case, was this a psychic imprint of sorts that I just happen to receive in this way? Or can spirits somehow know that you are going to arrive at a particular location before you actually arrive and in turn are communicating with you before you do?

I would be interested in hearing some thoughts on this or any information on anyone experimenting with spirits knowing your thoughts (telepathy).

I believe that spirits read our thoughts. The ones I communicate with read mine anyway (that's how I speak with them). I wouldn't think it would be an isolated incident with just me. Of course our guides read our thoughts, so why not spirits. I believe that the spirits you are speaking of sensed that you were coming and did what they could to alert you to their presence. Sometimes I have a bit of a problem with coincidence.

For what it's worth, I've had olfactory phenomena occur during mediumship tests. These phenomena were consistent with the individual communicating. In one case, it was a phenomenon that was well-known at the actual location with which he is usually associated. Yet this particular scent occurred over 15 miles away.

I am wondering if you are dealing with a normal smell that is triggering some part of your perceptions when a specific event or stimulus occurs. This would be a viable alternative explanation in my mind, and would remove the need for a spirit to read your mind.

I cannot think of an experiment with sufficient controls to indicate one way or the other the actual cause of such effects. I would normally suggest use of an external measure. For olfactory phenomena a gas chromatograph would be best. This is probably out of your reach and requires expertise to interpret the data correctly. Aside from this, if the effect is in some way telepathic, whether involving incarnate or discarnate sources, we have no way today to reliable measure and differentiate one source from the other. Herein lies the challenge.

I am not sure. It seems my ability in the past few years around having experiences with smell have really blossumed.

The experience with the medicinal smell has really got me stumped. The investigation was about a 20 minute drive in a different city away from my home and as i stated, started to occur a few days previous. I have not smelled it since.

Also, 2 investigations previous, I had an experience with smelling sweat that the owner claimed to have also experienced. No one else on my team experienced the same smell at that particular time. We did however manage to capture a few evps at the same time. One recorder said my name, another responded to me saying it smelled like sweat by saying, "It's sweat, " and also we experienced a spike with the EMF at the same time as when I experienced the smell. We also experienced a computer turning on by itself out of the screen saver mode all within seconds apart.

It's too bad there wasn't something that was readily avaiable for us to use that could determine if the smell is actually physically there or if it is being projected to us on a psychic level.
