Poll to Japanese Students: Do you believe in Ghosts and UFOs

Welcome to the the tenth installment of Polling Japanese Students, the series of posts in which I post the results of surveys I gave to Japanese junior high school students. At the suggestion of Tadashi, I decided to ask students about their views on the paranormal. First I asked them about UFO?s:





And then I asked them about ghosts:






UFO belief failed to gain a majority, but the numbers were reversed when it came to ghosts. Belief in ghosts was particularly strong among the girls in the classes I asked. As one would expect, few of the believers had actually seen a ghost or UFO. Those who saw UFO?s mostly claimed to have seen them out the window of their house at some point, or over their neighborhood. Those who saw ghosts had seen them in various places, such as Kamakura and a shrine near the school.
