A BOOK on communicating with spirits has been launched to coincide with the Edinburgh Ghost Festival.
Wilma Davidson researched some of the most haunted parts of the Old Town for her book Spirit Rescue.
She claims to have encountered countless "earthbound spirits" including confused children, loyal soldiers and stubborn Titanic passengers.
A medium and alternative health practitioner, she said she hoped to shed light on an often misunderstood area.
She is a popular lecturer, and often tours the country speaking about the paranormal.
Wilma, who lives in Dorset, said: "There's been a lot of research into ghosts in Edinburgh. They can have a profound influence on our lives in positive and negative ways. I'm trying to explain what a ghost is and why they are there."
Thousands of people took part in Edinburgh's GhostFest 2007 last week, which involved overnight vigils, talks and film screenings.
