Leigh Ann Towne goes ghost hunting with a paranormal investigator.
WHEELING - Amongst the hustle and bustle of Wheeling and snuggled in the hills of Ohio County a rich history of people are laid to rest.
Even though they are gone, some don't want to be forgotten.
Seven News Reporter Leigh Ann Towne went ghost hunting with Paranormal Investigator Gary Whitlatch of Moundsville just before Halloween. Whitlatch said he's been face to face with the other side before.
As the sky churns over Peninsula Cemetery, creatures stir among the dead. But are they the only ones with their peepers upon on us? As we journey through the cemetery, Whitlatch snaps random photos with his digital camera and uses a temperature gun.
Whitlach got his start as a ghost hunter simply on a bet one Halloween while living in Texas. When he realized it would be a good hobby, he joined a ghost hunting group.
He likes to start at the back of cemetery, where the graves are usually the oldest, and work his way forward. Along the way, he tells stories of past hunts.
He once took a picture in Arkansas of a tree where they used to hang people. He took a picture of the tree, and in his snap shot, you could see the image of the rope still hanging. One time, he even had negative energy get into his truck with him after visiting an old all-black cemetery.
Suddenly, his camera's fully charged batteries drain. A sign that something was among us. The ictures show a few orbs...but nothing else that would show it's ghostly image.
