Visitors enjoyed guided tours of one of Portsmouth's oldest buildings.
And they were able to see drawings showing plans for restoration work at Wymering Manor.
There are plans to turn the manor, in Old Wymering Lane, into a spooky hotel and function venue.
Portsmouth City Council sold the building for ?450,000 to the Portsmouth Society, Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust and local developer Ian Young.
They hope to cash in on people looking for paranormal activity at the manor which has a reputation as a haunted house.
Plans are now under way to turn the historic building into a heritage hotel used for research and education.
The manor dates back to 1042 and features in the Doomsday Book. It used to be the home of the brother of author Jane Austen, ex-Admiral of the Fleet Sir Francis Austen.
The open days were held on November 25 and 26.
Joan Fryer, secretary of the Friends of Old Wymering, said: 'We had an excellent response from as far away as Bognor Regis and other outlying districts. It just proves how much people love their heritage.'
