How Dangerous Are Blue Orbs?

I came across this article on the net regarding an investigator who was injured by a blue orb while investigating a haunting. Besides it being a bizarre story and possibly not even related to the Paranormal (may have been ball lightening or some other natural phenomena) it does pose an interesting question.

Do you think that certain coloured orbs represent certain types of spirits? In this case does blue represent a malevolent or dangerous spirit? or do you think that there isn't a difference between the various orb colours?

These injury cases (as tragic as many of them can be) are sadly the closest thing to HARD (physical and biological) EVIDENCE available for study following chance encounters with the unknown and unexplained.

We need the FACTS.

INEXPLICATA CONTRIBUTOR INJURED DURING GHOST RESEARCH

It came to our attention this weekend thanks to Angel Rodriguez of Universo Prohibido that our good friend and long-time Inexplicata correspondent Jose Manuel Garcia Bautista had been injured during the course his ghost-hunting activities. This injury may have cost him the sight in one of his eyes.

According to the information that has reached us over the past 48 hours, Jose Manuel had been called out to investigate a haunting and was faced with a ?large ball of light? in the house. When he approached this strange phenomenon, it apparently exploded, producing ?ulcers in his left eye.? An e-mail circulated this morning by his wife Leonor suggests that Jose Manuel will not know for another ten days if the damage is permanent.

Leonor?s e-mail message reads thus: ?He paid a visit that morning [Friday, 12/16/06] to a house where he was told strange things were going on and blue orbs of light [were being reported]. He was there for a while until he saw one of these orbs, and upon approaching it, it began to swell and that thing supposedly exploded. You know what he?s like - if something attracts his attention, rather than keeping safe, he?s the first to get closer and closer in order to get to the bottom of things. He has paid a very high price for his curiosity this time around.?

INEXPLICATA wishes Jose Manuel Garcia - a bold and knowledgeable researcher of the paranormal, generous to a fault - a speedy recovery and a positive outcome to this injury sustained in the line of duty.

My involvement began when a December 18, 2006 news release from Scott Corrales and The Journal of Hispanic Ufology announced INEXPLICATA CONTRIBUTOR INJURED DURING GHOST RESEARCH.

Scott Corrales wrote that his good friend and long-time Inexplicata correspondent Jose Manuel Garcia, described as ?a bold and knowledgeable researcher of the paranormal,? had been injured during the course of his ghost-hunting activities and that this wound ?sustained in the line of duty? may have cost him the sight in one of his eyes.

On Tuesday, December 19th, I acknowledged the Journal of Hispanic Ufology news release with this qualifier: ?The following message in my e-mail INBOX has triggered a rush of emotions: EMPATHY for the eye injury victim, CURIOSITY over the ?how? and ?why? this happened, and a burning DESIRE for solid medical confirmation and documentation. I found this case full of potential, but hard facts were desperately needed here, beginning with an accurate chronology of what happened and a detailed medical description and photographs of injuries. My hand couldn?t jot down obvious questions quick enough: Were we talking corneal ulcers? Was the eye injury the result of abrasion or chemical damage or even electrical burns? Was the hair or eyebrows singed? Was the victim?s face cut or bruised or burned? Was there any noise or smells associated with the explosion? Was there any telltale evidence of virus, bacteria or fungi?

Just telling a tale don?t make it so.

Yet if there were real dangers in approaching ?ball of light? phenomena, then every investigator in the field deserved to examine evidence of the consequences.

Scott Corrales e-mailed me that day:

Dear Robert - At the risk of seeming unnecessarily rude, I don?t think that you are owed any explanations about ANYTHING by ANYBODY. If you think that this is some sort of lie concocted by me in my spare time, I have news for you. Over the past few months I?ve seen your endless and repeated pleas for facts, confirmation, etc. and am frankly sickened by it. I would ask you to please delete any messages coming from me if you feel that I am in some way polluting your pure fountain of truth. - Scott Corrales

As an investigative researcher, I promised Scott that I would continue my ?endless and repeated pleas for facts, confirmation, etc.? I expressed astonishment that he was, in his own words, ?frankly sickened by it.?

As the orb ?attack? case stands now, I will give Scott Corrales the last word: ?However, you are right about one thing: the case is far more convoluted than anyone expected, and the researcher himself is soft pedaling any paranormal interpretation of the event - but won?t address the issue openly. When he comes around to it and posts the full story of what occurred ? I will translate that information and make it available as soon as possible.?
