Is Birkirkara facing an eerie mystery? A few weeks ago, a man sitting in the town police station?s corridor saw a lady in black walk towards a door, and head straight through it? without opening it.
But the spookiest part of it is yet to come ? when he told this to police, they did not laugh at him. This is not the first weird thing they heard inside the 400 year old townhouse converted to a police station, just three doors down from the private home of the President of Malta. Police officers who worked in this building during the last years claim that they experience many ?unexplainable events?.
Through a locked door
The man who allegedly witnessed ?the lady in black? was brought to the police station late at night to be interrogated. The following morning he was arraigned in court, where he related his experience in the police station?s corridor. He explained that while waiting to be called to the office, he saw a woman dressed in a black dress walk towards him. She then walked towards a locked door, and disappeared behind it. maltastar.com is informed that what puzzling the police is the fact that this door leads to an unused room, and is rarely unlocked. Moreover, there was no woman within the building on that late hour.
When the man witnessed this paranormal experience, he was not under the effect of alcohol or any illicit drugs. He was being investigated on matters that had nothing to do with such abuse, maltastar.com is informed. Moreover, he is not a resident in Birkirkara. He lives in a village south of Malta, and it was unlikely that his vision was conjured by the influence of creepy hearsays amongst local police officers, and some of the town?s elderly people.
Keys falling
Amongst police, there are rumours that strange things do occur at this station. ?Some of the police stationed in Birkirkara during the past years relate stories of keys falling down stairways without anyone touching them. And sometimes they noticed strange shadows, or glimpse swiftly moving figures from the corner of their eyes? sources told this e-newspaper. Other former police officers said that in this station, they sometimes ?lost? an object they were using, only to find it a few minutes later that it has been ?oddly misplaced?.

What is the Police Commissioner showing him?
But the police currently stationed at Birkirkara station do not seem to be ill at ease at their workplace. Apparently, these rumours and allegations are taken with a pinch of salt. Then again, can they do anything else to stop the lady in black?s trespassing?
The famous Ghostbusters movie soundtrack goes ?If there's something weird and it don't look good, who you gonna call?? In the song, the answer?s ?Ghostbusters?, but in Birkirkara, the police seem to be managing quite well without calling anyone. Cheers to the brave cops!
Hopefully, the ?lady in black? will refrain from any more pranks at the police station. And next time she goes into a room, she could at least open the door like mortals do!
