MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. - Psychic premonitions might make good TV-crime shows, but they haven't been helpful in finding Tara Grant.
"We do not use psychics," Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said Monday. "They'll call us, giving us information. A lot of the time, they'll give us a broad description of what they're sensing."'
Hackel said visualizing landscapes that could be located in nearly any region doesn't indicate where the 34-year-old mother of two went since she was last seen Feb. 9. Grant is the sister of Chillicothe resident Alicia Standerfer. Police continue to receive dozens of tips after the weekend's uneventful search for Grant in Stony Creek and the Macomb Orchard Trail areas. Detectives are sifting through them daily, with some as bizarre as a report that Grant was a "Wheel of Fortune" contestant - which was false.
Local authorities also have sought help from the National Center for Missing Adults, which is accepting tips online at www.missingadults.organd by phone at (800) 690-3463.
Hackel said his task force of volunteers may conduct another search in an undetermined area with the help of the FBI.
"That's the opportunity with us to extend our boundaries," Hackel said.
Officials are still treating her disappearance as a missing persons case and do not have any evidence of foul play.
