Reporter goes inside psychic gathering
Will your home sell on the market?
How many children will you have?
Where will your career take you?
If you were at the Psychic Celebration and Fair at Embassy Suites on Saturday, you may already know the answer.
The hotel salon was filled with a menagerie of psychic readers, palm readers, shamans, spiritual readers and reiki teachers.
Organized by Patricia De Joseph, a psychic consultant and motivational speaker from Palm Desert, the events are held every few months.
Curious as to what my future held, I agreed to partake.
I started out with a hand reading by Pamelah Tablak, a master hand analyst who's been helping people learn more about themselves for 16 years.
By looking at my left palm very closely with a magnifying glass, she read my heart line.
"You have a high need for freedom. This is a non-negotiable need," she said.
She was right on. I was actually amazed at how accurate she was.
Tablak said her services are often requested by people encountering challenges in relationships, or seeking help in identifying their purpose in life.
If parents are dealing with a problem child, she said she can help parents identify the child's needs.
"Almost always if the parent is open, it helps change the dynamic in the relationship and it gives the child a voice," she said.
My second stop was De Joseph, a psychic consultant.
She said she has helped find lost persons, and helped physicians looking for a diagnosis and realtors wanting to know if potential buyers are legitimate.
She also helps connect people to "loved ones" who have died.
Don't call her a "fortune teller," though.
"I work from the heart. I believe in the power of positive solutions. I want to guide people," she said.
She first had me write my name on a piece of paper. And with her eyes clenched shut, she tightly held the paper between her hands and tapped into my energy.
"You're investigative. Questions always firing away," she said.
According to De Joseph, I may be moving out of state soon for a job offer (Sorry, boss). And I may transition from newspapers to books or magazines.
All of that seems very plausible and would be welcome. Not that I'm itching to get away, though.
My third and last stop was with Kae Schreiber, a psychic counselor, intuitive and palmist.
By cradling my right hand in both of hers, she was able to determine that I may start having children in about a year-and-a-half, and that I may wind up having two.
Since my husband and I have talked about starting a family for years, we found that prediction very intriguing.
Overall, I was pretty impressed.
So were many others.
"It was very, very interesting. Besides that, it was very accurate. Just amazing," said Alma Curlee from Redlands.
She got her shakras read and was gearing up to get an aura photo when I spoke with her.
"It's nice to know there's something out there when you can't get answers from your typical sources," Curlee said.
