MANILA, Philippines? For years we?ve been soaked in the corruption issues of the country and yet even the strongest conscienticizing has not prodded us all into action. Now, even with a new senate in place the picture hasn?t lightened. Filipinos probably feel, deep down in their gut, that political and economic solutions are not sufficient.
Before the coming of the Spaniards in the 16th century, there were the babaylans to consult. Predominantly, but not exclusively women, because the perspective needed by the agricultural age was feminine?nurturing, cyclical, healing.
Babaylans carried the key beliefs about the origins of the world, the meaning of life and the ideal behavior of a human being. Mystics and healers, they wielded social and spiritual powers and could analyze the problems of the community. They were the original spiritual expression of our people.
Modern babaylans exist in the present day although they are no longer recognized as leaders. They have the same ancient gifts of clairvoyance, healing touch and a deep connection to the motherland. Their modern-day mission is to articulate the Filipino?s spiritual power in a manner and language that will appeal to the youth so that they may be equipped with the proper tools and weapons to survive.
The present-day babaylans we talked to are two?Georgina Solina, a well-respected astrologer and author, and Edwin ?Bong? de la Torre, a healer and clairvoyant. The following opinions are all theirs.
A lot has been said about the Philippine diaspora?how the Filipinos are going abroad in great numbers and their influence on the households and establishments they work for. We have claimed that our OFWs?yayas and nurses and teachers?are, in fact, ?Filipinizing? the western world.
Fated to be scattered
Solina?s reading of the diaspora is that conditions at home?great poverty, scarcity of jobs, low wages and political instability?are being made purposely more difficult by the universe. It is forcing Filipinos to go out and seek their destinies abroad. Because the Filipino nation is eventually fated to be, not on Philippine soil, but scattered all over the western world.
Global warming has given a deeper dimension to the Philippine diaspora. As alerted by environmental activist Al Gore, the North Pole and the South Pole are melting, the polar bears are drowning and the penguins are dying. This is the result of more than a tolerable quantity of pollutants (like carbon dioxide from the burning of coal, oil, gasoline and forests) being released into the air. The thickened atmosphere traps more than the beneficial amount of sun radiation, raising overall temperatures. It has melted the mountain glaciers of every continent, raising the levels of oceans and seas.
?Low-lying areas near southern Florida, Manhattan and the area surrounding San Francisco Bay could end up under water,? Gore warns, ?and in Western Europe, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. In Beijing 20 million people live in areas that would be flooded. In Shanghai the devastation would even be worse. Forty million Chinese would become climate refugees.
?When temperatures of oceans rise, typhoons get stronger. Hurricane Katrina left millions of Americans homeless. But while there are tornados and typhoons in some areas there are heat waves in others, causing the deaths, in 2005, of 35,000 Europeans (shooting up to 122 degrees in India).?
?In the Philippines the typhoons will become stronger and stronger, too,? declares De la Torre. Bicol is now the Highway 54 of typhoons and will become a semi-permanent disaster area. The group lesson there is about setting up structures for disaster readiness to be perfected through the years. Eventually, the whole of planet earth will become a disaster area and our skills in survival passed on.
Bong de la Torre affirms what the environmentalists have been saying?that the rising of the waters will be sooner than projected. Not the Judeo-Christian image of the Apocalypse nor a gotterdamerung scenario. And it is already happening. A little shaking here and there, a cyclone, a big flood?
Clear and present danger
?There is clear and present danger. As the most conscious species of the planet we must view it from a higher perspective to see that the problem is energetical and therefore spiritual. At the same time the portal is opening. Portal to where?
Psychics see the portal not only as metaphorical, but physical, located in the Philippines, specifically Palawan, which sits in the ring of fire. The actual movement is a rearrangement of the tectonic plates which always causes a shift. On the mystic level a Shift happens in order to lift the earth to a higher consciousness.
It is probably easier to understand the portal metaphorically as referring to the heart. It is ?an awareness of others? suffering,? or simply, that whatever we do or think affects the next person. A people?s thoughts and feelings form society?s collective consciousness. When a tipping point is reached these convictions upset all current accepted forms of thinking. It is more familiarly called a ?paradigm shift.?
The earliest (historical) quantum leaps were those of Copernicus who was finally upheld in his ?heretical? belief that it was the earth that revolved around the sun. There was Columbus who was able to convince the Court and the crew of his ship that they were not going to fall over the edge of the earth.
Paradigm shift is merely the same old world seen in a new light. Today?s portal is opening to the soul field. Science has been consistently corroborating the existence of spirit. Organically farmed foods and holistic healing are quietly being accepted. There is a convergence of science, counseling and therapy, too, in understanding the soul process necessary to heal mental disorders. The Philippines will even experience a radical evolution in the concept of a nation. 2007 is the dismantling of old structures, 2008 is groundbreaking for new ones. We only need the courage to open up to what is unfamiliar for new abilities and new forms to emerge. The paradigm shift is nothing but awareness.
Part of the old world
The mystics see the Philippines as part of the old, old spiritual world of the planet, of Lemuria, the land of Mu, of pre-recorded time, that was submerged millions and millions of years ago. (Mu refers to their spaceships). Lemuria was a humongous continent that supposedly included parts of California (USA), extending to the mountains of South America, and on the right side, to Japan, then to Indonesia and Sumatra, then even lower to Australia and back up again to India and the Middle East (Chic Fortich). Its center is allegedly the Philippines.
The Lemurians were highly evolved beings with spirit bodies who could easily take other than human forms. An inner mechanism in the soul could make them fly or disappear (like spirits and angels). The land, too, was of a different composition then.
Lemuria was in distress because of its two types of inhabitants?the laboring class led by priests and a form of religion, and a higher class not in harmony with the religion. The highly psychic Lemurians abused their powers by incorporating witchcraft and black magic in their fight. This resulted in the sinking of the continent. But many Lemurians were able to escape.
None of this information is, of course, written. It was accessed by clairvoyants from ?master guides? in the spirit world who had gone through the flooding. As evidence that the Philippines was Lemuria, psychics claim the presence, in the Philippine deep, of deuterium, a kind of ?heavy water? which is actually the first element that appears when new stars are formed. They also claim the Philippine ocean to be connected to the Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic where many airplanes have disappeared without trace. Another supposed evidence of our being Lemurian descendants is the Filipinos themselves who are very old souls, rich, not in material wealth, but in spiritual resources.
Interest groups
Says De la Torre, ?There already exists a cabal of interlocking interest groups all over the world trying to control information on global warming. Some are doing it with good intention?they do not want panic to ensue. Other visionaries are not so innocent. They look at the sinking in all parts of the world as opportunities for business three or so generations down the road. Parts of Australia and Canada, as read by them, will become very fertile. These ?futurists? are multisectoral?clairvoyants, scientists, biologists, nuclear physicists. With them it is no longer about saving structures. That?s a foregone conclusion?all structures will have to go?political, economic, religious, social, even parts of the land. The archipelago we are standing on, which we call the Philippines, is one of the sites predicted to go under water.?
?Global warming is part of the divine plan for the healing of the planet,? Solina says. ?It is caused by the abuse of nature and is an indictment of science and educational systems that deny the existence of the spirit, science that recognizes only self-serving ends. All disarray is caused only and ultimately by the disconnection from the Energy Source, causing, for instance, the unstoppable wars in Iraq.?
High soul quotient
?The high soul quotient of the Filipino attracts the religious groups to come here to fill up as in a gas station,? says De la Torre. ?They know that the portal is located here. These groups have always something to share but they invariably go home with much more. One Japanese cult based in Quezon City offers faith healing services for free. In return they ask permission to extract an amount of energy from the patient. From this spiritual technology, some get sick. Apparently, there is an energy crisis on the etheric, astral, spiritual plane?a fight for life forces, even a grab for them?the newest battleground!
?Some visiting groups do it on a conscious level. The unaware access it by hiring our caregivers and healers. Some faith traditions (like meditation), however, have been usurped by denominations of different nationalities?Nepalese, Chinese, Koreans, Indians, etc., some not so pure of intention. We have to be very aware because soul force is our wealth. Like material wealth it can be depleted by the truly needy or exploitative.
?So why is the world suddenly discovering the Filipino?? asks Solina. ?A director of a hospital in the US was quoted as saying, ?Without Filipino nurses, this hospital will not run.? There are nurses from all over the world. Why not Thai nurses? Chinese nurses? Scandinavian nurses? Because beyond their skills and their training, the Filipino healers?doctors, nurses, teachers, caregivers and yayas?have something invisible that the foreigner cannot define. The June 12 Independence Day planetary chart of the Philippines has a mystic rectangle. It energetically connects us to people around the world through the moon (Mother God). On planet earth, we are Motherland.
?The western world needs healers,? continues Solina. ?They have a woundedness that is very deep, not curable by medicine or surgery because it is not a physical but a soul wound. (Which hints at why there are so many incurable diseases like cancer and AIDS.) The woundedness will have to be treated on a deeper level, through one?s etheric, astral and spiritual bodies?our three higher bodies that intertwine the physical body. The world is at the beginning of a new consciousness that will teach the individual how to reconnect to his higher source. To learn lessons of forgiveness, of how to do things for others, to realize that if you ask for nothing you will get everything.?
The Filipino heart is bigger than others? with deep resources of unending patience, understanding and compassion. Healing one?s country and the world is the Filipino?s mission. That is why we have been bestowed an abundance of magical gifts
