Hauntings, sightings, ghosts and UFOs.
Things that go bump in the night.
These are just a few of the things The South Central Ohio Paranormal Society investigates.
"We started back in 2004, and we would like to think we are Chillicothe's first group of this nature," said Neal Parks, member of South Central Ohio Paranormal Society.
The group, also known as SCOPS, consists of six individuals who go out and investigate the unknown.
"We recently have been at the Crosskeys Tavern, Elizabeth's Grave and Crybaby Bridge," said Parks.
Parks has been investigating supernatural situations for 20 years.
"I'm a real enthusiast, which is why I do it," said Parks.
Parks collects data individually and then, along with his wife Kristin, discusses what they find.
"This is a hobby that I got into really around the age of 12," he said. "I was always fascinated with ghosts and angels."
SCOPS will investigate claims of people seeing shadows, or objects moving around mysteriously by themselves.
"Sometimes we find that really it's the person's mind playing tricks on them but then other times we find something that can't be explained," he said.
To help them during their investigations, the crew uses equipment such as a digital camera, electronic recording device and electronic magnetic field readers, which are used to detect energy levels.
"Eighty percent can be proven scientifically, but the other 20 percent cannot," said Parks.
SCOPS also is featured in a book coming out Monday, "Ghosts from Coast to Coast," which shows pictures that his wife took while on a investigative trip.
