LUNCARTY-based author Geoff Holder?s third book, The Guide to Mysterious Loch Ness and the Inverness Area, is launched this evening in the AK Bell Library, Perth.
The book covers everything strange, paranormal, folkloric and weird about both Loch Ness and the surrounding area, and follows Geoff?s previous two ?Mysterious? books ? The Guide to Mysterious Perthshire (2006) and The Guide to Mysterious Iona and Staffa (May 2007).
?Loch Ness is obviously best known for its resident monster,? said Geoff, ?but the whole area is rich in other mysteries, from stone circles and UFOs, through to witch trials, ghosts and magic.
?The book also covers occult master Aleister Crowley, the so-called ?wickedest man in the world?, and the rituals he conducted at Boleskine House on the shores of the loch, as well as Jacobite demons at the Battle of Culloden, and even sightings of mysterious Big Cats.?
The book also covers the full history of the ?Nessie?.
?If you wander round Inverness town centre you?ll see Victorian ?Nessie-form? gargoyles. The entire Loch Ness triangle is a cornucopia of wonders and marvels,? added the author.
At this evening?s launch Geoff will give a talk illustrated with photographs, music and video. The event is at 7.30pm and is free.
Two more books in the series, The Guide to Mysterious Arran and The Guide to Mysterious Stirling, will be published next year.
