Any house that is over 700 years old can be excused for having a few skeletons in its closet, but to test whether Trevarno really is a haunted house the county's very own ghost busters have been called.
Members of the Paranormal Research Organisation, which has members based around the county, travelled to the Trevarno Estate near Helston to investigate the house for ghostly presences and eerie goings on.
It was the third time they had visited the estate and the second that an investigation had been carried out on the house - parts of which date back to 1296.
Cilla George, from the estate, accompanied the investigators. She said: "With a building like this, when you get so many centuries of people living here and working here and basically dying here as well you, you just don't know. It's very spiritual down here anyway and you're very close to the elements. It's of interest to a lot of people I think."
She added that there were "one or two things" found that appeared to be unusual - such as items moving without any wind and dousing rods picking up names.
The investigators split into three teams on arrival to the house - into psychics, scientists and a mixed group.
Exact details of what was found by investigators will not be revealed until they have compiled a report, which is not likely to be completed for at least a week.
It was certainly the witching hour by the time the investigators left, at 4.30am, after six and a half hours of studies.
